A Corporate Visa is issued to South African companies or organizations that need to employ a large number of foreign workers for specific projects or ongoing operations. This visa streamlines the process by allowing the employer to obtain authorization for multiple foreign employees under one corporate agreement. The visa is granted to the employing company, not the individual workers, and is typically valid for up to three years. Each foreign employee is then issued an individual work authorization under the corporate visa. This visa helps businesses meet critical labor shortages while ensuring compliance with South Africa’s immigration and employment laws.

The Corporate Visa allows a South African company to employ a predetermined number of foreign nationals for specific positions that cannot be filled by local employees.

It is intended for businesses operating in South Africa that require specialized skills or personnel from abroad to support their operations.

The visa is generally issued for a period of  up to four years, depending on the approval by the Department of Home Affairs.

Renewal is possible provided the company continues to meet all compliance requirements and the need for foreign employees remains.

The company must submit a Corporate Immigration Plan detailing the number of foreign employees, their positions, and reasons why local employees cannot fill the roles.

Proof of compliance with labour market requirements, including the employment of South African citizens or permanent residents, is required.

Each foreign employee must meet the qualifications and experience requirements for their position.

The company must maintain records and reports on foreign employees as required by the Department of Home Affairs.

Foreign employees under a Corporate Visa may only work for the approved employer and in the designated positions.

The visa cannot be converted to another visa type from within South Africa.

Non-compliance with conditions may result in visa cancellation or fines for the company and employees.

The visa remains valid for the period approved for the corporate plan.

Renewal applications must include updated employment records, compliance reports, and evidence that all visa conditions continue to be met.

After five years of continuous residence, eligible employees may apply for permanent residence under Section 26(a) of the Immigration Act.
