MEDICAL TREATMENT VISA 

Medical Treatment Visa allows foreign nationals to enter South Africa for the purpose of receiving medical care at a recognised healthcare facility. Applicants must provide proof of medical necessity, such as a letter from a registered South African doctor or hospital confirming treatment arrangements, as well as evidence of sufficient financial means to cover medical and living expenses. This visa is typically issued for the duration of the treatment and may be extended if additional care is required. Holders are not permitted to work while in South Africa under this visa.

TThe Medical Treatment Visa allows foreign nationals to enter South Africa to receive medical treatment at a registered hospital or medical facility. It is intended for patients requiring specialised or ongoing treatment that cannot be obtained in their home country.

The visa is typically issued for the duration of the medical treatment, up to a maximum of one year, depending on the anticipated length of the treatment program. Extensions may be granted if continued treatment is medically necessary.

Applicants must provide a letter from a recognised South African medical facility confirming the treatment plan and duration.

Proof of sufficient funds to cover medical and living expenses in South Africa is required.

Applicants must hold valid medical insurance for the period of stay.

The visa is strictly for medical purposes; holders may not engage in employment or study.

The visa cannot be used for purposes other than medical treatment.

Holders are not allowed to work or study while in South Africa.

Any overstay beyond the approved treatment period may result in fines, visa cancellation, or being declared undesirable.

The visa remains valid only for the duration specified in the approval notice.

Extensions must be applied for before the visa expires, supported by updated medical reports confirming the need for continued treatment.

Once treatment is completed and the visa expires, the holder must leave South Africa.
